If you are into seafood, then you already know what I’m talking about! Long John Silver’s is the place to be when hungry and craving seafood. My boyfriend always says their grilled shrimp tacos are the best thing he has tried in a fast food place. And I love these, too! The only thing that can make them even better is the right sauce. But how to choose the right one if you don’t know which sauces are available? So, what sauces does Long John Silver’s have?

Long John Silver’s sauce menu includes Ketchup, Honey Mustard, Creamy Ranch, BBQ, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Marinara, Creamy Butter Sauce, Sweet and Sour, and Sweet and Zesty Asian Sauce. And, of course, they have Tartar Sauce, one of the most popular condiments for fish.

In order to help you find the sauce that will best compliment your seafood dining experience, I have created a list with descriptions of their taste and best pairings. This way, you’ll know what you’re getting into, and you’ll be able to better prepare your next order. Let’s dive into this sea of sauces!

List of Long John Silver’s Sauces

Long John Silver’s offers a number of sauces you can combine with different items on their menu — from shrimp, cod, and salmon, to chicken. You can learn more about them in the following lines.

Tartar Sauce

Tartar sauce is the most perfect match for any type of fried seafood. It is also one of the favorite condiments to pair up with fish, so it is no wonder to find it on Long John Silver’s menu.

Mayonnaise, pickles, seasoning, lemon juice, and dill make tartar sauce a perfectly balanced combination of tangy, creamy, and herbal. The taste contrasts crunchy, deep-fried Pacific cod, wild Alaska pollock, shrimp, and even chicken. I love this one dearly for its versatility, and I often prepare it at home.

Ketchup

Finding ketchup on this list is another thing that makes sense since it is an indispensable addition to any fast food menu. A unique combination of tomato, onion, and herbal flavors blend perfectly into a creamy condiment.

It pairs with all deep-fried items on the restaurant’s menu, but my favorite thing to order alongside is the Long John Silver’s signature hush puppies.

BBQ Sauce

BBQ Sauce is another common condiment for deep-fried meals, but it works wonderfully with seafood, too. Even though it makes the best match with pork or beef, it can be a delicious addition to chicken tenders, which are the only main course at this fast-food chain that isn’t provided by the sea. With neutral chicken meat and some fries on the side, smoked, spicy, slightly tangy BBQ sauce adds a nice upgrade.

Marinara

Though the Marinara Sauce is the perfect addition to crunchy meals, I like ordering it with salmon. It adds a Mediterranean aroma, which I find perfect for this dish, yet it works well with all types of seafood. Made from tomato paste, garlic, spices, and herbs, it makes a delicious, savory match with coconut shrimp!

Honey Mustard

Honey mustard is another indispensable condiment for deep-fried food from restaurants such as Long John Silver’s. The combination of sweet and spicy enhances seafood flavor, especially shrimp, pollock, and cod. However, traditionally, it makes the best combination with chicken.

Louisiana Hot Sauce

If you wish to make your meal more soul-food-like, try adding Louisiana hot sauce. Based on red peppers and vinegar, it is tangy and spicy. Consider combining it with any shrimp meal on the Long John Silver’s menu, yet bear in mind it may be an excellent condiment for any dish, as long as you like intense flavors.

Cocktail Sauce

LJS’s Cocktail Sauce is a tomato-based condiment Long John Silver’s is famous for. This combination of tomato, onion powder, sugar, salt, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice concentrate, dehydrated garlic, red pepper, and several other natural and artificial flavors takes fried fish meals to another level. Tangy, garlicky, and spicy, it balances out the flavor of the entire dish.

Sweet & Zesty Asian Sauce

If you’re vegan or if you’re looking for a delicious sauce with a zesty garlicky aftertaste, this is the one! The umami soy notes complete the flavor perfectly, and the combination with fried seafood is the match made in heaven. Sweet & Zesty will make every menu item better, trust me.

Creamy Ranch

Ranch is a delicious condiment that also combines well with a variety of dishes. Its buttery and herbal taste is perfect for all sorts of fish, from cod to salmon, as well as sandwiches and tacos Long John Silver’s also has on their menu. Normally, fish sandwiches are served with tartar sauce, but if you prefer a neutral flavor, ranch could be a great alternative.

Creamy Garlic Butter Sauce

Creamy garlic butter sauce is one of the essential sauces served with fish. It is a rich, flavorful condiment with a garlicky aroma that matches especially well with grilled salmon. For sandwiches and tacos, it might be too much, but you can also combine it with deep-fried meals.

Sweet and Sour Sauce

If you like both Chinese food and Long John Silver’s dishes, a sweet and sour sauce with shrimp will satisfy your cravings. The sauce contains soybean oil, buttermilk, water, spices, distilled vinegar, and high fructose corn syrup. These ingredients blend into a well-balanced combination of sweet and tangy, which further enhances the taste of the main dish.

It’s an absolute must-try with anything beer-battered!
