Lemon Thyme Sauce

This lemon thyme sauce is a classic accompaniment to pork schnitzel. Made with just a few simple ingredients, it’s light and refreshing, with a beautiful balance of acidity and sweetness.

To make the sauce, you’ll need chicken stock, a bit of white wine, lemon juice, several thyme leaves, and some melted butter.

I usually simply combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat, and simmer until the sauce has reduced by half. Once it’s reduced, just add the butter and stir until it’s fully incorporated.

Cranberry Sauce

This one is a bit of a curveball, but trust me when I say it works. The sweetness of the cranberry sauce pairs perfectly with the savory pork, and the acidity cuts through the richness of the dish. Plus, it’s a great way to add some color to your plate.

If you want to go the extra mile, you can make your own sauce from scratch. But if you’re short on time, you can definitely use a store-bought version. Just make sure to get one that’s not too sweet.

And if you really want to get fancy, you can always make a cranberry reduction. To do this, just simmer cranberries in sugar and water until they’re soft, and then puree them. Once you’ve reduced them, you can add a touch of vinegar for some acidity.

Applesauce

Another sweet sauce and another classic for a reason. Sweet, slightly tart, and with a smooth texture, applesauce is the perfect partner for pork schnitzel. It’s also super easy to make at home. Just peel and chop some apples, add a little sugar and water, and cook until soft. Done!

If you want to get fancy, you can add some cinnamon or other spices to the mix.

Creamy Mustard Sauce

Creamy mustard sauce is definitely one of my favorite sauces to serve with pork schnitzel. I love the tangy flavor it adds to the dish. Plus, it’s effortless to make.

All you need is some Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, and salt. Simply combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little bit of water to thin it out.

Tangy Sour Cream and Chive Sauce

Another classic sauce to serve with pork schnitzel. It’s a simple mixture of sour cream, chives, and a squeeze of lemon juice, but I’m obsessed with how it takes the dish to the next level!

The acidity from the lemon juice cuts through the richness of the pork, and the chives add a nice oniony flavor without being too overwhelming. Plus, the sour cream adds a lovely creaminess that ties everything together. Delicious!

Jäger Sauce (German Hunter Sauce)

You may prefer something a bit more indulgent, like a creamy mushroom sauce. Jäger sauce is a German hunter sauce that is typically made with mushrooms, onions, and bacon, and it has a thick, creamy texture.

The sauce is brown in color and has a strong flavor that goes well with the pork.

Fresh Herb and Garlic Butter Sauce

This sauce is incredibly easy to make and perfect for pairing with pork schnitzel. To make it, you’ll need 1/2 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.

Simply mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl, then set aside.

When you’re ready to serve, brush the Schnitzels with the sauce, then cook them in a hot skillet until they’re nice and golden brown. Serve hot, and enjoy!

Creamy Horseradish Sauce

This one is for the horseradish lovers out there. It’s got a nice kick, but it’s not so spicy that it’ll ruin your meal. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1 teaspoon sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Serve with pork schnitzel, and enjoy!

Or, you can make some horseradish mustard — this is such an amazing choice!
