For those of you who love delicate French cooking, quiche is probably at the top of your list of favorite dishes to make; I know it’s on mine. Still, as simple as it sounds, quiche can sometimes have a mind of its own and take a wrong turn somewhere, leaving you with disappointing results. Enter Costco quiche, where all the work is already done, and all you have to do is cook it and enjoy it. But how to cook Costco quiche?

You can either bake or microwave Costco quiche, but baking is the better method. The baking procedure consists of three main steps which you need to follow religiously to have a successful dish.

In just a few minutes and with a few simple steps, Costco quiche can turn your kitchen into a fancy bakery and your dining table into a fancy restaurant. Still, even this pre-made delicacy has certain requirements, so in this article, I’ll tell you all about cooking Costco quiche.

Although this dish is pre-made, and all you have to do is cook it, there are still some things to know about the process. Possible cooking methods include oven-baking and microwaving, but I don’t recommend microwaving your Costco quiche. It is likely to turn out overly moist and soggy — unfortunately, I learned this the hard way.

Thawing and Prep Time

Since this delicacy comes frozen, let it thaw for a while before cooking it. It is a general rule in cooking that cooking a frozen dish before thawing will likely diminish the flavor and, in some cases, the texture as well.

Be very gentle when removing the quiche from its packaging to avoid breaking or damaging it in any way. So, to get the best possible results, let the quiche thaw for about half an hour a room temperature. During this time, preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C).

When the oven is hot and your quiche has sufficiently thawed, pop it gently into the oven — you’ll see how exactly in the next step.

Baking the Quiche

Toothpick Test on Quiche

Instead of simply placing the quiche on a baking tray, layer it with parchment paper and place the quiche on it.

Don’t place the quiche directly on the oven rack because it may burn at the places where the rack touches it. Make sure the surface is even and non-stick so that the piece bakes evenly.

Place the baking tray in the middle of the oven to ensure even baking on all sides. The recommended time is 30-40 minutes, but don’t rely solely on that, as the baking time highly depends on your oven, so it may take less or more.

When it’s done, the top should be lightly browned, so check it through the oven glass to make sure you remove the quiche from the oven at the right time. If you are a newbie, do the toothpick test to ensure it’s fully cooked. Insert a toothpick or knife into the center of the quiche – if it comes out clean, the dish is ready.

I always do the toothpick test 20 minutes after the start of baking.

When you take your Costco quiche out of the oven, let it rest for ten minutes before serving it. This resting time allows consistency to set, so you get a nice compact dish you will enjoy a few minutes later.

How to Make Costco Quiche Better?

Even though this is an absolute delicacy as it is, you can always try a few things to make it better. I usually add a generous amount of grated cheese, such as cheddar or mozzarella, on top to make the top crust even cheesier. You can also add bacon bits or pepperoni to make it meatier and juicier.

Fried ground beef with herbs also works wonders as a Costco quiche topping. You can caramelize onions and top your quiche with them or use finely chopped veggies to add some freshness and a splash of color.

What to Serve With Costco Quiche?

A Salad Served With Costco Quiche

This is a very versatile dish — it pairs wonderfully with many sides. Still, it can be a little restrictive if you serve the spinach-artichoke flavor. On the other hand, the broccoli-cheddar quiche is a blank canvas, so whatever you decide goes.

My favorite combinations are those with salads, starting from fresh vegetable salads to creamy salads. The cheese quiche goes with any salad imaginable, so let your imagination run wild and make yourself a nice bowl of colorful salad. If you go with the Florentine, a tomato or ham and cucumber salad will do a great job enriching your meal.

I love Costco quiche with a bowl of summer salad which fits both varieties perfectly.

Roasted veggies are an excellent side for the Costco quiche. Roasted carrots, potatoes, eggplant, asparagus, zucchini, onion rings, and bell peppers make great Costco quiche companions.

Steamed veggies are yet another great idea to spruce up your Costco quiche. You can steam broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and asparagus and make yourself a great steamed veggie plate. I like to add some oil, salt, and balsamic glaze and also a few olive chunks to my steamed veggies.

Peas and corn are great sides for your Costco quiche. Just sautee some in a pan, add cream, and you have a creamy dish in a few minutes.

Soups, such as creamy mushroom soup, French onion soup, or vegetable soup, will fit perfectly with your Costco quiche. My favorite is creamy mushroom soup, but go with any soup you like best.

You can always combine your Costco quiche with a meaty side, such as prosciutto or another cured meat, sausages, or tiny meatballs.
