Even though it may sound like it, fried chicken ice cream is not fried chicken-flavored ice cream. The idea comes from Life Raft Treats and their bucket full of Not Fried Chicken ice cream. Crispy from the outside, creamy from the inside – this is the simplest explanation of this innovative dessert. And even though I like their ice cream, I realized that making a similar recipe is really not that complicated idea. So, I present to you a fried chicken ice cream recipe!

How to Make Fried Chicken Ice Cream?

First, you will need to make vanilla ice cream. The needed ingredients are ¾ cup of heavy whipping cream, ¼ cup of sweetened condensed milk and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Ideally, you will make it the day before so you make sure that it is completely frozen. However, ice cream can be ready in 8 hours.

We can thank cornflakes for crunchy exterior and fried look. About 2 cups of cornflakes will be enough.

Step 1: Make vanilla ice cream

This ice cream base is vanilla ice cream and you make it by simply mixing the ingredients together. So, whip condensed milk, heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract until you get a soft and creamy texture. It will take about 2 minutes.

Take a bread pan, ideally a silicone one, and pour the mixture inside. Place cling film on the top and take it to the freezer for at least 8 hours.

P.S. I am sure you will love this ice cream recipe since it is very quick and simple. Yes, this is the recipe for fried chicken ice cream, but you can serve it only as plain vanilla ice cream. There are also some variations that you can apply. You can add one tablespoon of Nutella to the mixture and have chocolate ice cream. Add 3 tablespoons of strawberry jam to get strawberry ice cream. Possibilities are just endless.

Step 2: Prepare the cornflakes

We will use 2 cups of cornflakes for breading the vanilla ice cream, but don’t crumble all at once. First, place 1 cup of cornflakes into the blender and pulse it a few times. Some flakes will be crumbled completely, some will stay whole. That’s how it is supposed to be. Just like when you are frying chicken.

Step 3: Shaping and breading

In this step, you will need to be fast and focused so that the ice cream won’t melt.

Prepare two freezer-safe plates (I used paper plates and wrapped them in aluminum foil), a cutting board, a sharp knife, and cornflakes. Make sure that everything is 100% clean, including your hands. Using disposable gloves for cooking will help you.

Take ice cream from the freezer and carefully separate it from the bread loaf pan. Place it on the cutting board and shape the chicken “meat” using a sharp knife. Use your hands to polish the pieces and to bread the ice cream “meat.”

I managed to get 3 drumsticks and 3 strips from this ice cream mixture.

Place the fried chicken ice cream on the plates, carefully cover them with cling film and place them back in the freezer.

Step 4: Serving

The perfect serving method is in the KFC bucket to make it fun for everybody. Keep the fried chicken ice cream in the freezer the whole time, just make sure you eat them within two weeks. That’s how long homemade ice cream last at its finest consistency.
