The Wellness Routine That Keeps Beyoncé (44) at the Top

Beyoncé has spent more than two decades delivering performances that demand an almost superhuman level of physical output, and the routine behind that output has evolved considerably over the years. Motherhood, in particular, changed the entire foundation of how she approaches health.
Her actual wellness routine is more structured, and more personal, than the polished stage performances ever let on. She has been candid about the specific program, and the specific person, behind keeping her performance ready decade after decade.
None of it looks like a secret formula locked away from public view. Here is the actual wellness routine that has kept Beyoncé at the top of her field.
Motherhood Reset Her Entire Approach
After giving birth to twins Rumi and Sir in 2017, Beyoncé faced a physical reset unlike anything earlier in her career. She wrote in a Vogue essay that she weighed 218 pounds the day she gave birth, swollen from toxemia after more than a month on bed rest, according to TODAY.
“I was a woman that felt like my body was not mine,” she said of that period, describing the emotional weight of the recovery as much as the physical one. Preparing to perform at Coachella the following year became the motivation to document her actual comeback process for the first time.
A Plant Based Program Built Specifically For Her
Beyoncé’s routine centers on 22 Days Nutrition, a fully plant based meal program created by her longtime friend and trainer, Marco Borges, according to Billboard. Ahead of her 2018 Coachella performance, she followed the plan intensely for 44 days, nearly double its standard length.
The plan cuts out bread, added sugar, dairy, meat, fish and alcohol entirely, replacing them with fully plant based meals built around organic, non GMO ingredients. Borges has said the program is designed around higher energy, better mood, improved sleep and clearer skin, benefits meant to reinforce the habit well past the 22nd day.
The Routine Bends For Real Life Too
Despite the intensity of her Coachella preparation, Beyoncé’s day to day approach looks considerably more flexible. She skips meat specifically on Mondays rather than eating fully vegan year round, saving the strictest version of the diet for major performances, according to Celebrity Daily Routine.
She has also built in a designated treat day, often indulging in pizza on Sundays, according to Rolling Out. Learning to listen to her body, rather than repeating the same intense protocol regardless of the occasion, has become the more sustainable version of the routine she credits with keeping her going this long.
Beyoncé’s wellness routine was never really about one extreme diet, it was about finding a plant based foundation flexible enough to survive both a world tour and an ordinary Tuesday. That balance, more than any single rule, appears to be what has actually kept her at the top for this long.
