Turkey and Salami Sandwich [Recipe]
One of my favorite games isn’t a game at all, but it is a competition. My sister, nephew and I like to compete to see who will make the best sandwich/burger/anything you can eat. This time, my turkey and salami sandwich was a clear winner. Here is the recipe so you can recreate it at home!
How to Make a Good Turkey and Salami Sandwich?
Even though it seems really simple, making a good sandwich is more complicated than some people think.
There are multiple factors that contribute to the tastiness of sandwiches: the bread’s texture and ability to absorb the flavors; different fillings that create a diverse taste experience; various seasonings and sauces. It is also how you achieve the balance of different textures and flavors. However, if you ask me, the versatility of sandwiches is what makes them one of the best snacks ever!
When it comes to bread, my go-to options for sandwiches are ciabatta or baguette. This time, I chose baguette due to its crunchy exterior that provides a pleasant contrast to the mild sandwich fillings.
Speaking of the fillings, you will need:
- Salami – its rich flavor will act like spices, enhancing the overall flavor profile of the dish.
- Turkey – due to its tender texture, turkey will easily blend with other ingredients and add a nice contrast to firmer ingredients, such as the baguette.
- Cheese – as one of the most popular sandwich ingredients, it will provide our sandwich with a milky flavor.
- Sauce – made of mayo, yellow mustard and ketchup. The sauce is here to give a flavorful kick since the rest of the ingredients have mild flavors.
- Fresh vegetables – to be more precise, a few leaves of lettuce and tomato
- Hard-boiled egg – because when there’s turkey, there’s an egg. They complement each other in terms of taste, texture and nutrition.
First, you will cut the baguette horizontally and spread the sauce on the both pieces of bread. Then you will add lettuce, tomato, salami, turkey, hard-boiled egg and a few slices of cheese on top.
I shared detailed, printable recipe at the end of the article.
How to Serve This Sandwich?
Turkey and salami sandwiches are the best when served fresh, right after you prepare them. Grilling or microwaving will change the flavors and textures of the ingredients, so I suggest you skip these methods. This sandwich calls for cold ingredients and should be served as such.
If you are looking for the best side dishes, I have a few ideas that will enhance the overall meal experience. Serve fries, pickles or coleslaw if you want to serve it as lunch. You can also serve dipping sauce if someone finds their sandwich too dry.
How to Store Turkey and Salami Sandwich?
Before storing, wrap the sandwich in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. After that, close it in an airtight container or seal it in a plastic bag.
Of course, refrigerate the sandwich for a maximum of 2 days to prevent spoilage.
