It’s an indulgent combination of sweet and creamy that will impress everyone. What’s more, it is a perfect solution for a St.Patrick’s Day dessert due to its suitable green color.

This recipe is special because it’s unlike the ordinary cheesecake you can find at any time. Instead, I got inspiration from a TikTok version of a blue velvet oreo cheesecake and decided to add a bit of green food coloring to give it a unique look and flavor. So, let’s have a look at this easy but delicious recipe!

What Makes Green Velvet Cheesecake so Special?

Green velvet cheesecake is like no other dessert – it combines fluffy, creamy cheese filling paired with a crunchy Oreo cookie. The cool green exterior adds a festive touch. The combination of textures and flavors makes this creamy, velvety dessert truly special. Each bite is an explosion of chocolate and lush cheese with just the right amount of sweetness.

But what really makes this dish stand out is that all you have to do is mix the ingredients together, butter the pan, and bake it in the oven; no standing over a stove or waiting for your ingredients to rise is required!

Plus, you can prepare it in advance and store it for up to three days.

How to Make Green Velvet Cheesecake with Oreos?

Making a green velvet cheesecake with Oreos is a fun and special treat that can make any event or special occasion stand out. Not only does this recipe make for an esthetically pleasing dessert, but it is incredibly delicious and easy to make.

With just a few simple steps, you can be sure your guests will ask for the recipe. So now that you know how to make the perfect green velvet cheesecake with Oreos, it’s time to treat yourself!

To prepare the green velvet cake, you will need 1 ⅓ cups of cake flour or all-purpose flour, ¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 pack (0.5 oz or 14 g) baking powder, ½ tsp salt, 1 cup granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 cup vegetable oil, 6 tsp green food color (or until you get the desired color), 2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp white vinegar, and 1 ⅔ cup yogurt, which you can substitute with buttermilk.

If you have ever prepared a red velvet cake, you will be familiar with the frosting part. You will need 17 oz cream cheese (2 cups or 500 g), 18 oz (500 ml) whipping cream, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 12 Oreo cookies (132 g).

Plus, you can save some Oreos for decoration or use 3 tbsp oreo powder!

Step 1: Preparing the Batter

Before you get to do that, you need to preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) and spray or butter the bottom and the sides of a cake pan with removable sides.

Now, the batter!

Mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl and then separate egg yolks and whites. Beat the egg whites until stiff, and then mix the rest of the liquid ingredients using an electric mixer.

Note that if you don’t have the green color, you can use the blue and add more cocoa powder, and voila!

Combine the dry and liquid ingredients and use a wooden spoon or spatula to add the egg whites mixture into it nicely while mixing everything together slowly and gently.

Pour the mixture into the cake pan and bake it for about 55-60 minutes.

Step 2: Preparing the Frosting

Start by mixing all the frosting ingredients, except the Oreo cookies, together.

Take ⅔ of the cream and put the crumbled cookies into it while mixing carefully. Since these cookies easily crumble, you can use your fingers to do so.

Put the rest of the cream to the side to use it for the cake’s sides and top.

Step 3: Finishing Up

Once the batter is baked, leave it for at least an hour to cool, then cut it in half horizontally and then leave it to cool a bit more.

Put the lower cake on the plate, place the Oreo cream, and then cover it with the upper cake. Use the rest of the frosting to decorate the cake and finish it by sprinkling Oreo powder on top. Put the cake in the fridge and wait for all the ingredients to combine into one delicious taste.

Don’t cut the cake for at least 4 hours.

How to Store Green Velvet Cheesecake?

When all is said and done, and you have your green velvet cheesecake with Oreos, there’s no need to leave it unguarded. In fact, it should be appropriately stored for maximum enjoyment.

Here are a few tips that will help you store the cheesecake the right way:

  • Refrigerate the cheesecake for a minimum of four hours before consuming it. This will ensure that the cheese is firm when it goes down and also helps to prevent bacterial growth in the food.
  • Once it’s been refrigerated, you can store it in an airtight container or wrap it in cling film. This will help keep out any smells or humidity in order to preserve the texture and taste of your green velvet cheesecake.
  • If you want to freeze the cheesecake, make sure to wrap it tightly in plastic wrap first before putting it into a freezer bag or airtight container. This will help maximize its shelf life so that you can enjoy your green velvet treats anytime!
  • Finally, make sure to use up leftovers within two days, as this will ensure maximum freshness and flavor of your dessert.

  • 18 oz whipping cream (500 ml)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 Oreo cookies (132 g)

Decoration

  • 10 Oreo cookies
  • 2 tbsp Oreo powder

Instructions

Green Velvet Cake

  • First, preheat the oven to 320 °F (160 °C) and apply butter or spray on the bottom and sides of a cake pan with removable sides. Once that's done, proceed with the batter.
  • To make the batter, mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl and then separate the egg yolks and whites.
  • Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until they become stiff. In another bowl, mix the other liquid ingredients.
  • Combine dry and liquid ingredients using the mixer. Then, add the egg whites mixture slowly and mix gently using a wooden spoon or spatula.
  • Once you get a nice and even mixture, pour it into the cake pan and bake for approximately 55-60 minutes.

Oreo Cheesecake Frosting

  • To prepare the frosting, begin by combining all the frosting ingredients except for the Oreo cookies.
  • Next, take ⅔ of the cream and carefully mix the crumbled Oreo cookies into it. You can use your fingers since the cookies tend to crumble easily. Set aside the remaining cream to use for the sides and top of the cake.
  • Let the cake cool for an hour after baking, then slice it in half horizontally and allow it to cool some more.
  • Place the lower cake on the plate, add the Oreo cream, and cover it with the upper cake. Decorate the cake with the remaining frosting and sprinkle Oreo powder on top.
  • Refrigerate the cake for several hours. It's best not to cut the cake for at least four hours.
