Trader Joe’s Butter Chicken is one of my all-time favorite dishes. It’s so flavorful and delicious, and it’s really not that hard to make. The best part is that you can serve it with basmati rice, which makes it feel like an authentic meal. So, if you’re looking for an easy but delicious dish, you can’t go wrong with this Butter Chicken recipe from Trader Joe’s. It’s definitely something I’ll be cooking again soon. In the meantime, here are some tips on how to prepare it and make it even better.

How to Cook Trader Joe’s Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice?

While I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit over the years, I still follow the instructions on the back of the packaging. It’s really hard to go wrong with this dish.

There are two ways to heat this pre-cooked meal: in the microwave or in the oven.

If you opt for the former, you will need to prick the foil with a fork to allow steam to escape and then defrost on medium for 5 minutes.

Continue to heat on high for 4 minutes until heated through. Lastly, carefully remove the hot tray and let it stand for 1-2 minutes. Remove the foil, stir gently, and serve.

To heat this meal in the oven, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). The same as above, prick the foil with a fork to allow steam to escape.

After that, place the sheet on a baking sheet in the center of the oven and bake it for 25 minutes or until heated through. Carefully remove the hot tray, let it sit for 1-2 minutes, remove the foil, stir gently, and serve.

What to Serve With Trader Joe’s Butter Chicken?

Butter chicken is a delicious dish on its own, but it’s also really versatile. Apart from basmati rice, you can serve it with naan bread, pita bread, or even just some simple steamed vegetables. The naan bread is nice and crispy, while the vegetables add a bit of freshness to the dish. It’s the perfect combination of flavors and textures.

Another way to serve this delicious Indian-style chicken is with samosas. Samosas are Indian-inspired pastries that are made of potatoes, onions, and peas wrapped up in a crispy pastry shell. They’re usually served as an appetizer, but I like to have them as a main course. They’re the perfect complement to the butter chicken, and they’re so delicious that you’ll want to eat them by the dozen.

Also, to finish off the dish, I like to garnish the butter chicken with chopped cilantro and freshly grated ginger. To make the meal even better, you can also add some crunchy onions and lime wedges for added acidity.

But my personal favorite is to serve it with some basmati rice. The rice takes on the flavors of the butter chicken beautifully and creates a really fantastic contrast in textures. Plus, it’s a great way to soak up all the delicious sauce.

How to Make Trader Joe’s Butter Chicken Better?

If you want to take your butter chicken up a notch, you can do a few things to make it even more delicious. One suggestion is to add some heat by throwing in a chopped jalapeno or two for extra spiciness. For extra texture and flavor, you can also add some other veggies, like carrots or bell peppers.

Another great tip is to really kick up the flavor by making quick raita with plain yogurt, diced cucumber, and mint leaves. This will give your Trader Joe’s Butter Chicken an added burst of flavor that’s sure to impress family and friends alike!
