As a kid, I always loved attending the county fair and indulging in a corn dog. There’s something about that delicious, crispy crust wrapped around a warm, soft dog that just makes my mouth water. Since I couldn’t always make it to the fair, I created my own corn dog recipe with Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix!

Below, you’ll find my tried-and-true recipe for the perfect Jiffy corn dog. So grab your ingredients and fire up the stove; it’s time to get cooking!

What Makes These Corn Dogs so Special?

These corn dogs are a little different than your traditional corn dog recipe because they’re made with Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix. This is a classic recipe that takes only minutes to make and is always a hit with kids and adults alike. It’s basically a hot dog coated in a cornmeal batter and fried until crispy.

Jiffy is a little different than your typical boxed corn muffin mix because it gives the corn dogs a crunchier, more textured exterior that’s just out of this world delicious.

Another thing that makes these corn dogs so special is that they’re fried. Let’s be real; sometimes you just need a little fried food in your life. And these corn dogs are definitely worth the splurge.

If you’ve never made corn dogs at home before, don’t worry. It’s really easy. The hardest part is getting the batter to adhere to the hot dog. But once you’ve got that down, it’s smooth sailing from there.

So there you have it! If you’re looking for a delicious treat that’s sure to please, give this recipe a try. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

How to Make Jiffy Corn Dogs?

With this recipe, you can have the perfect Jiffy corn dog in no time! Not only are they tasty, but they’re also easy to make. Besides, collecting all of the necessary ingredients for this recipe is the easy part.

While the cornbread mix is the critical ingredient in this recipe and what gives the corn dogs their fluffy texture and slightly sweet flavor, I also like to add a few extra ingredients to the mix to give it some extra flavor and crunch.

Just head to your local grocery store and pick up a container of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, 6 long hot dogs, 2 eggs, and flour. I bought my hot dogs in a local butchery, so they were really long and bent. For these reasons, I cut them in half and made 12 pretty corn dogs. I tell you this because maybe you will have enough batter for 8-10 hot dogs if yours are shorter.

Regarding the rest of the ingredients, I am sure you already have them in your pantry, as you will need a bit of sweet paprika, salt, dry oregano, and some water, as well as oil for frying!

Another essential thing, though, you shouldn’t forget is 12 long wooden skewers, and you are all set up!

These are a couple of super easy steps you should follow to make perfect corn dogs:

Step 1: Preparing the Hot Dogs

Before you start doing anything, put the oil in a deep saucepan or deep fryer to warm it nicely. While the oil is warming up, you should use the time to carefully insert wooden skewers into hot dogs to reach the half.

Once you do that, dry the hot dogs with a paper towel and sprinkle them with a little bit of flour.

Step 2: Preparing the Batter

While the hand mixer is the best solution to get the compact and sticky mixture, you can also try to combine them with a spoon. So, just add Jiffy Corn Muffin mix, eggs, flour, 1 cup of warm water, and the seasonings, and mix all those ingredients together.

Step 3: Finishing Up

Pour the mixture into a tall glass and start dipping the hot dog skewers in it. Once you’ve dipped a hot dog in the mixture, place it in the hot oil for 3 minutes.

Be sure to turn the hot dog every so often so that it’s evenly fried on each side. Once a corn dog is golden-brown, it’s done. Place them on paper towels to soak up the excess grease.

Variations and Serving Suggestions

There are a few things you can do to really take your Jiffy corn dogs to the next level. First, you can try adding some shredded cheese to the batter for a cheesy twist. Another idea is to cut the corn dogs into bite-sized pieces and serve them as dippers with your favorite dipping sauce.

Once you’ve cooked up a batch of these bad boys, there are a few different ways you can serve them.

If you want to get fancy, provide a few different dipping sauces on the side. Ketchup, mustard, honey, BBQ sauce, and ranch dressing are all great options.
