What Sauces Does Braum's Have, Taste Test & Pairings

Even though I am a frequent guest at Braum’s, there are still things about their food that intrigue me. Their menu is not as transparent as the menus at most fast food places I have been to, and their sauces have always been shrouded in mystery. It’s sort of like you have the sauce, but you don’t really know what sauce you’re having, which is why I’m here writing this article. So, what sauces does Braum’s have?

Braum’s has Mayo, Ketchup, Special Sauce, Zesty Dressing, Creamy Sausage Gravy, Creamy Country Gravy, Sour Cream, Ranch Dip, French Onion Dip, and Jalapeno Dip.

It’s hard to keep your sauce a mystery when you are so well-known as Braum’s is, but they somehow managed to maintain the cloak of the unknown when it comes to their sauces. After test-tasting their sauces, I discovered something important, and I’m excited to share this knowledge with you!

List Of Braum’s Dipping Sauces

After carefully taste-testing each of them, I compiled a list of Braum’s sauces. The sauces they offer are below, so get to reading about what they taste like, and what the best pairings are!

Mayo

Braum’s Mayo is a creamy and slightly tangy classical mayonnaise sauce, making it a very versatile condiment. I thought it was slightly tangier than the mayo you buy at the store, but I didn’t mind it at all.

I had it with a burger, and it made the burger flavors explode in my mouth, so I would definitely have the same combo again. It is smooth and not overly expressive but flavorful enough to be very noticeable.

I recommend it with burgers, chicken meals, salads, and fries. There is no limitation to where you can use Braum’s Mayo because they really cracked the code with it.

Ketchup

Just when you would think that ketchup cannot be anything other than it is, Braum’s is here to convince you otherwise. This classic and universally loved condiment hits differently at Braum’s. I still can’t figure out whether it is the food I combined their Ketchup with, or if it just did not taste as ketchupy as I expected.

It was sweet and tangy with a pronounced saltiness and a slight savory note. This was definitely not an ordinary ketchup, and once I manage to recreate it, I will definitely tell you more about it.

The pairing remains the same, though; anything you think would go with it truly does. So don’t hesitate to pair it with burgers, fries, chicken tenders, or sandwiches.

Special Sauce

Braum’s Special Sauce is definitely special and a real head-scratcher. It tastes like all of their sauces combined, and none of them at the same time. It certainly got me thinking.

You are sure to love this delicious combination of tanginess, creaminess, and a hint of sweetness. It’s zesty like their ranch sauce, a little meaty like their sausage gravy, but it’s also creamy, similar to mayonnaise.

I had it with Braum’s Bacon Cheeseburger, but I think it would also go well with the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the French Fries.

Zesty Dressing

Braum’s Zesty Dressing is not named in vain because it certainly is very zesty. Its tangy and discretely spicy notes add a refreshing twist to many dishes. The only issue I’ve had with it is that it has a sweet note that I could do without, but maybe that’s just my palate.

However, using it is restrictive because you cannot use it in all of Braum’s meals because of its tanginess. I recommend it with chicken sandwiches and salads. It’s a rich sauce with a very particular flavor, so I don’t think there’s a middle ground; you either love it or you don’t.

Still, it is definitely worth the try!

Creamy Sausage Gravy

As a huge fan of meaty sauces, I could barely contain my excitement before I had a juicy bite with this sauce. Braum’s Creamy Sausage Gravy is a rich and indulgent sauce with a savory and meaty flavor.

It has a thick, creamy consistency that adds incredible depth, complexity, and substance to any dish. I love it with Braum’s Biscuits, but that’s not the only thing to pair it with. It goes perfectly with all breakfast items. This sauce is so hearty and comforting, which is what makes it a popular choice for a satisfying meal.

Creamy Country Gravy

Braum’s Creamy Country Gravy is another delicacy. It is a smooth and creamy sauce with a gentle, mild, and comforting flavor. Whenever I have it, it’s not just a flavor but an entire experience and, more often than not, a trip down memory lane. It really is a wholesome and rustic sauce that awakens childhood memories.

Although it isn’t very pronounced in flavor, it definitely makes up for its texture and its rich consistency. It is creamy, full, and very rich, transferring those elements to the dish you pair it with. Since it is mild, it is very versatile, but it works best with Braum’s breakfast classics.

I’ve had it with the Fried Chicken, Chicken Fried Steak, and Country Breakfast Platter.

Sour Cream

This Sour Cream is a tangy and creamy sauce adding a cool and refreshing twist to the dish. It is significantly smoother in texture compared to other ones I’ve had; it is milky and slightly acidic, which makes it a perfect ingredient to balance different flavors.

You can use it as a dip for all of Braum’s menu items. In fact, its purpose is to be easy to pair, and it really is as versatile as it can be!

I’ve had it with the Grilled Chicken Salad, the Chicken Sandwich, and the Bacon Cheeseburger, but I think it could work with the rest of the menu beautifully.

Ranch Dip

Braum’s Ranch is a classic ranch sauce, zesty, vibrant, and definitely very noticeable. It has a creamy texture and a savory, herb-infused taste, which makes it an excellent refreshing twist to any dish.

I love it for its herbal note, and I am simply in love with the flavor it gives to my food. It works best with Braum’s chicken everything, as well as the salads. I don’t recommend it with burgers, though, because it would go unnoticed.

French Onion Dip

This is a very flavorful sauce and definitely not for everyone. While it has a huge fan body, not everyone enjoys the pronounced onion notes it carries. If you are not into onion and garlic tones, you may want to go another way because the onion flavor is the main note in this sauce.

Luckily, I really enjoy expressive onion notes, so I enjoyed this sauce very much. It is creamy, rich, very aromatic, and expressively oniony. The French Onion Dip adds depth and complexity to your meal, creating a delicious combination of flavors.

If you like the sauce, it will pair well with any Braum’s item, and especially with Chicken sandwiches.

Jalapeno Dip

Braum’s Jalapeno Dip is a spicy and creamy sauce that brings a spicy kick to your taste buds. It has an expressive and bold jalapeno flavor, but to my surprise, it wasn’t overly hot. The dip adds moderate heat to the dish, making it even more flavorful.

I recommend it with both strong and mild-flavored Braum’s dishes because it really works great in these.

Sauces on Braum’s Burgers

Although you can get whichever sauce you want with whichever burger you want, Braum’s burgers come with certain sauces from the get-go.

Braum’s Bacon Cheeseburger comes with Braum’s Sauce and Mayo. Braum’s Cheeseburgers come with their Mayo and the Special Sauce. And lastly, Braum’s Jalapeño Pepper Jack Cheeseburger comes with Mayo.

Can You Buy Braum’s Sauce?

Yes, you can. Braum’s has a “fresh market” department where they sell various food items, including their Ranch Dip, Jalapeno Dip, Sour Cream, and French Onion Dip. You can also buy their salad dressing.

So, which sauce will you pair up with your next Braum’s order? I would love to read all about your next Braum’s combo in the comments below!
