What Chris Hemsworth’s Kids Really Think About His “Thor” Diet and Persona

To most of the world, Chris Hemsworth is the God of Thunder, all muscle and hammer-swinging spectacle. At home, though, his own three kids have had a much more complicated, and often pretty funny, relationship with that persona, especially when food gets involved.

The Toddler Who Used Thor as Leverage

Years before his kids were old enough to be unimpressed by anything, one of Hemsworth’s sons briefly turned “Thor” into a genuinely useful parenting tool. Hemsworth has described the moment his son first connected him to the character on screen, running to the door asking if his dad had really fought monsters that day and whether he was as strong as Thor.

That excitement turned out to be handy at the dinner table.

According to Hemsworth, asking his son whether he wanted to be strong like Thor became an actual strategy for getting him to finish his meals, while his other two kids reportedly stayed far less interested in making the connection at all.

Grown Up and Thoroughly Unimpressed

That early spark of superhero-fueled enthusiasm didn’t last. By the time his kids were old enough to visit the set of later Thor films, Hemsworth said their reaction had cooled considerably, admitting plainly that they don’t care about his fame at all anymore.

He’s traced the shift back to a very specific realization. According to Hemsworth, his kids thought it was genuinely cool when they first understood he played Thor, right up until they figured out he couldn’t actually fly, at which point the whole thing became a lot less impressive.

These days, he says, the standard response to his global fame is a fairly typical teenage “ah, Dad, whatever.”

Their taste in superheroes doesn’t even favor him. Hemsworth has said that between the three of them, Wonder Woman edges out Thor as the family favorite, a detail he seems to find more amusing than deflating.

What Actually Ends Up on Their Plates

Despite starring in a franchise built around his physique, Hemsworth has been fairly clear that his intense, high-protein Thor prep diet isn’t what his kids are eating on a regular basis.

His focus at home has been less about performance nutrition and more about keeping processed food and added sugar to a minimum, reading ingredient labels on things like cereal and flavored milk that quietly pack in far more sugar than expected.

That approach is a world away from the strict, calorie-dense meal plans built specifically to bulk him up for filming. The family’s everyday meals are aimed at ordinary healthy eating, not turning three kids into miniature Asgardians.

A Dad First, a Superhero Second

Two of Hemsworth’s kids did eventually get an on-screen taste of the Thor universe themselves, with his daughter India Rose and one of his twin sons landing small roles in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Even that brush with the franchise didn’t change much at home, where Hemsworth has made a point of letting them treat it as a fun one-off rather than turning into a defining identity.

If anything, the whole arc says more about ordinary family life than superhero fame. A toddler once used Thor as a reason to finish dinner, and years later, that same kid is just as likely as his siblings to shrug off the whole thing entirely, proof that at home, being “Dad” outranks being a god.
