She survived an iceberg, won an Oscar, and raised three kids while filming some of the most demanding roles in Hollywood. So when Kate Winslet talks about energy, it is probably worth listening.

The ‘Titanic’ actress has been refreshingly open about how her relationship with food changed as she got older. And the habit she keeps coming back to is simpler than anyone expected.

The Green Juice Fridge

In an interview with InStyle magazine, Winslet revealed that her fridge is always stocked with spinach, kale, and cucumbers, and that she has become “partial to lots of green juicing.” She described it as a core part of her self-care routine, not a trend she tried once and moved on from.

She also starts every single morning by making a green smoothie for the whole family before the school run.

A Shift in Mindset, Not a Diet

Winslet has been vocal about rejecting restrictive diets for most of her adult life. What changed was not the rules she set for herself, but the way she started thinking about food as fuel rather than something to stress over.

“Beauty in your 40s is about depth and experience. And good habits,” she has said, adding that drinking lots of water and getting outdoors made a visible difference in both her energy and her skin.

The Plant-Based Kitchen

Winslet has been a vegetarian for years, and when her husband recently went fully vegan, the kitchen became even more plant-focused. She described the shift as a “really fun education” in being more inventive with food.

That creativity, she says, keeps things interesting rather than feeling like deprivation.

What the Science Says

There is solid reasoning behind the habit. Green vegetables like kale and spinach are dense in vitamins and minerals that support sustained energy, immune function, and reduced inflammation. Consuming them in juice or smoothie form in the morning allows the body to absorb nutrients quickly, particularly on an empty stomach.

It is also a habit that requires almost no willpower once the ingredients are already in the fridge.

Winslet has also narrated ‘Eating Our Way to Extinction,’ a documentary about the environmental impact of diet, which speaks to how deeply her plant-based choices are rooted in values beyond just personal health.

A morning smoothie, a fridge full of greens, and a genuine belief that food should make you feel good rather than guilty. It is not exactly a revolutionary secret, but coming from someone who has navigated Hollywood’s harshest pressures for decades, it might just be the most convincing endorsement of the basics you will ever read.
