You visit Texas Roadhouse once, and you know that’s not the last time. Literally everyone I know was pleased (if not amazed) with their food. I love their simple, yet perfect combinations of ingredients and flavors. Texas Roadhouse grilled BBQ chicken was the first copycat recipe that I tried at home. I have to say that I nailed it!

It’s actually a pretty simple recipe, so I believe you will nail it, too! Of course, I don’t have access to the original Texas Roadhouse grilled BBQ chicken recipe, but this is the closest I could get. And I must say, I got pretty close!

How to Make Texas Roadhouse Grilled BBQ Chicken?

There are only a few steps. How long you will leave the chicken to rest is up to you, but the rest will be done quickly.

Step 1: Season the chicken

The meat will hardly be juicy if you don’t season it before grilling. The longer it’s seasoned, the more flavorful it be. So, grab some salt, pepper, and powdered garlic, and season that chicken well!

As you may already know, there is no one and only chicken seasoning. Adjust the spices according to your taste. For example, add some dry oregano, smoked paprika, or chili flakes.

Since Texas Roadhouse uses chicken breasts, I opt for the same meat cut. One whole chicken breast will be enough for 4-6 filets, depending on the size.

Once you are finished with seasoning, leave the chicken breasts in the fridge for at least one hour to 3 days. If you are not grilling it the same day, leave them in an airtight container or at least cover them with aluminum foil.

Step 2: Grilling

Pour two to four tablespoons of vegetable oil into a non-stick grill pan and heat it up over medium heat. When it’s heated, add chicken breast filets. Grill them for a few minutes on each side (approximately 6 minutes on each side, depending on how thin they are).

Put them on the plate to cool a little bit so you don’t burn yourself.

Step 3: Spread BBQ marinade

Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Place the baking paper on the casserole dish or something similar.

Now spread BBQ sauce all over the grilled chicken filets and place them on the baking paper. About 2 tablespoons of sauce per filet will be enough.

I used the classic Heinz Barbecue Rich & Smokey sauce. If you feel like you want to spice things up, use Texas-style Bold & Spicy barbecue sauce.

Place everything in the oven for 8 minutes, and you’re done!

Serve BBQ chicken with the side dish of your choice. Have a blast making delicious combinations that suit your taste.

What to Serve with Grilled BBQ Chicken?

I was inspired by the TR side dish for grilled BBQ chicken, and that’s steamed broccoli. If you are not a veggie lover, fry some French fries and onion rings, serve some coleslaw, or opt for a creamy potato casserole. Fried bacon and green beans (like the ones at TR) will also do.

Whatever you choose, make sure you enjoy it! I can’t wait for you to tell me what you think about this recipe in the comments below!
