More Women Over 50 Are Skipping This at Breakfast

A lot of women say once they made this one change, mornings started feeling completely different. The habit they are walking away from might surprise you, since most of us have been doing it our whole lives without a second thought.

The Habit Getting Left Behind

The trend taking over midlife wellness circles is women skipping their coffee the second they open their eyes. Instead of that first sip on an empty stomach, more of them are waiting until they have eaten something first.

Why Everyone Is Suddenly Talking About Cortisol

The reasoning comes down to hormones. Cortisol already peaks naturally within the first hour of waking, and stacking caffeine right on top of that spike can leave some women feeling more wired and anxious than actually energized.

The New Morning Order

Instead of quitting coffee altogether, most women are just changing the order of operations. Delaying that first cup by sixty to ninety minutes after waking is the move many are trying, giving the body time to ride out its natural morning cortisol wave first.

Not Every Expert Is Convinced

Not everyone in the medical world is fully sold on the theory though. One endocrinologist has pushed back on the panic, pointing out there are no randomized trials actually comparing coffee on an empty stomach to coffee eaten alongside food.

So whether this turns out to be a genuine hormone hack or just another wellness trend riding a viral moment, plenty of women are trying it anyway. Worst case scenario, breakfast just gets a few minutes longer, and honestly, that might be the whole point.
