List of All IHOP Sauces & Pairings
International House of Pancakes is known as breakfast-lovers heaven and the best part is – you can eat it at any time! Besides their staple – buttermilk pancakes, there are numerous delicious meal options. You can probably find most of these dishes anywhere else, but what makes them special are the signature sauces! IHOP offers a wide range of sauces, perfectly paired to enhance the flavors of their menu items. So, here’s the list of what sauces IHOP has for each meal type!
The most popular IHOP sauces for pancakes are syrup caddy, berry glaze, vanilla sauce and cupcake icing. When it comes to savory dishes, there are three staples: buttermilk ranch, honey mustard, and signature IHOP sauce. If you like a bit of spicy kick, go for salsa, marinara, or poblano queso.
Sauces are my favorite part of the IHOP menu! It’s unfortunate that you can’t buy each of them individually, as I would love to incorporate some in my home-cooked meals. Here’s the full list of sauces from IHOP below, so my regular trips there pay off.
Sauces for Pancakes
It isn’t called House of Pancakes for nothing! Besides the world-famous syrup caddy, there are a few more sauces that caught my attention, so I wrote them all below. The first four are staples and you can find them at every table in the restaurant, but others are specials for particular combos. Here is the list:
- Old Fashioned Syrup
- Butter Pecan Syrup
- Blueberry Syrup
- Strawberry Syrup
- Chocolate Syrup
- Vanilla Sauce
- Dulce de Leche Caramel Sauce
- Blueberry Topping
- Cinnamon Roll Sauce
- Cream Cheese Icing
- Cupcake Icing
- Strawberry Glaze
My favorite of all is Dulce de Leche Caramel Sauce, hands up! It has a rich caramelly flavor, slightly burnt and buttery, while the texture is silky and sticky, just as caramel is supposed to be. I wish you could buy it separately, as I imagine it to pair perfectly in hot chocolate or coffee, or even their brownies with a pinch of salt on top.
Also, I LOVE blueberry and strawberry toppings much more than classic syrups, because there are chunks of whole fruit in there. I adore the berry tang! I think syrup caddy should have its own moment, so keep up as I’ll be writing everything you need to know about these 4 stars in the world of pancakes!
Sauces for Eggs Benedict
Eggs Benedict and Hollandaise Sauce are match made in heaven, so I can’t even imagine them without one another. Well-prepared poached egg on the bed of an English muffin requires nothing else!
Sauces for Omelettes
I’m a savory breakfast type of person, thus omelettes are often on my menu. There are several super delicious combos on IHOP’s menu, but sometimes I need a tad of spice kick to wake up. There comes a chicken fajita omelette with superb piquant salsa on the side. Yum!
My friend usually goes for a bacon omlette with white cheese sauce and he says it’s top-notch. I’m just a messenger here! 🙂I really don’t like eggs and sour cream pairing, but that’s just my preference.
- Salsa
- Sour Cream
- White Cheese Sauce
- Hollandaise Sauce
Sauces for Crepes
The idea of savory crepes just doesn’t sit right with me, but my sister adores them, and I have no idea why. She says Cheese Sauce is brilliant, so her trying to recreate it after every IHOP trip became a habit.
Sauces for IHOP Burritos & Bowls
You can feel the Mexican vibe in all of these sauces, right?! First things first, poblano queso is to die for – perfectly cheesy and spicy, it just takes the burrito to another level. I haven’t tried queso and hearty gravy, though, so if you did, let me know if they are good. You can pair your burritos and bowls with these sauces:
- Salsa
- Poblano Queso
- Queso Sauce
- Hearty Gravy
Sauces for Belgian Waffles
One more thing that I don’t fancy savory is waffles, so I haven’t tried any of these combos. These 3 sauces are staples to other savory dishes, so I tried them there. If you want to know what is so special about their signature IHOP sauce, simply scroll down!
- Buttermilk Ranch
- Honey Mustard
- IHOP Sauce
Sauces for Apps & Salads
Fine salad dressing can take any grassy greenery to a first-class dish in a second, so I love the choices here, especially honey mustard. When it comes to appetizers – mozzarella sticks are my all-time favorite option and they come with marinara dip! It doesn’t go anywhere better than that! You can choose from:
- Salsa
- Sour Cream
- Buttermilk Ranch
- Marinara
- Balsamic Vinaigrette
- Honey Mustard
- Cream Cheese Icing
- Dulce de Leche Caramel Sauce
Sauces for Burgers & Chicken Sandwiches & Melts
Classics go hand in hand with other classics and that’s for the fact! Their signature IHOP sauce is mouthwatering over a beef patty! It deepens the flavor so nicely without overwhelming it, while smoky BBQ sauce gives a special note to it. IHOP’s Buttermilk ranch is amazing in chicken sandwiches, tang plus hints of garlic and dill are excellent! However, here are all the sauces you will find in IHOP’s burgers and sandwiches:
- Mayo
- BBQ Sauce
- IHOP Sauce
- Buttermilk Ranch
Sauces for Entrées
IHOP is not my favorite place to eat steaks, so I don’t have much of an opinion on this one, though. Gravies taste good, not homemade-like good, but still. Turkey gravy is my favorite, but don’t expect a Thanksgiving dining experience. Here, the sauces the choose from are:
- Beef Gravy
- Turkey Gravy
- Gravy (*may contain pork)
Sauces for IHOP Platters
I adore these crispy platters, especially with tartar sauce. Lately, I also like honey mustard with fries and chicken tenders, they are real party pleasers. Each sauce here is great, it only matters if you’re on the fish or chicken team.
- Cocktail sauce
- Tartar sauce
- Honey Mustard Sauce
- Buttermilk Ranch
- IHOP Sauce
What is IHOP Sauce?
IHOP’s signature sauce is nothing fancy at all. It is a blend of three popular condiments: mayo, ketchup, and mustard in equal ratios. So simple, right? Mayo gives it a perfectly creamy consistency, mustard offers it a spicy kick, and ketchup adds a sweet note.
That’s why it blends so impeccably with burgers!
