Kylie Jenner (29) Shared Her Go-To Shrimp Tacos, and They’re Easier Than They Look

Kylie Jenner doesn’t share a lot of recipes, but the one she keeps coming back to has been building a following of its own for almost a decade now. It recently resurfaced online, and the reaction proved just how many people had been quietly waiting for it.
A Recipe That Started Nearly a Decade Ago
The tacos trace back to 2016, when Jenner ran an Instagram series called Cooking with Kylie and brought in her friend Karrueche Tran to help put the dish together. That single episode, later nicknamed for the two of them, is the version people still reference today.
The recipe stuck around long after the series ended. Jenner has referenced it fondly in interviews and on her spinoff show since, treating it less like a one-off video and more like an actual go-to meal.
Old Bay Is Doing Most of the Work
The shrimp itself gets a fairly plain seasoning: Old Bay, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt. Nothing about the list requires a special trip to the store or an ingredient most kitchens don’t already have.
Old Bay in particular has been called the key to the whole dish, doing more flavor work than anything else in the pan. It’s the kind of shortcut that makes the tacos taste intentional without demanding a long marinade first.
The Salsa Comes Together While the Pan Heats
Chopped tomatoes, onion, and cilantro go into a hot skillet with a bit of olive oil and cook down for a few minutes before anything else joins them. That gives the base a slightly softened, almost salsa-like texture rather than staying raw and crunchy.
The seasoned shrimp goes into that same pan next, cooking just two to three minutes per side until it turns pink. One pan handles both steps back to back, with no extra dishes and no real waiting around between them.
Frying the Tortillas Takes Seconds, Not Skill
White corn tortillas get a quick fry in a separate pan of oil, roughly thirty seconds per side, just long enough to crisp without turning greasy. It’s a shallow fry rather than a deep one, so there’s no need for a thermometer or a big pot of oil.
That brief pass through hot oil is what separates these tacos from a soft-shell version, giving them enough structure to hold the toppings without falling apart halfway through the meal.
Assembly Is Where It All Comes Together
Once the pieces are ready, building the taco is straightforward: sour cream goes down first, followed by the shrimp, then guacamole, shredded cheese, a spoonful of salsa, and a scattering of cilantro on top. No single layer requires much technique on its own.
The order matters more than the amount, since sour cream on the tortilla first keeps everything else from sliding around. It’s a small trick that makes the finished taco feel more put-together than the actual effort involved.
She Brought It Back and Fans Noticed Immediately
Jenner recently posted a clip with her friend Victoria Villarroel making fresh tortillas and the shrimp mixture together, nearly a decade after the original video. Longtime fans recognized it within seconds and flooded the comments, some joking that it’s the only dish she actually knows how to make.
That reputation isn’t entirely fair, since she’s also made ramen, grilled cheese, and avocado toast on camera over the years. But the shrimp tacos are clearly the one recipe she never seems to retire.
