Looking for a delicious and nutritious twist on classic breakfast waffles? Look no further than these savory green spinach waffles, which are both easy to make and loaded with flavor. Not only do they taste great, but they also pack a powerful nutritional punch.

When I first made them, I was so surprised by their taste. I didn’t expect them to be so fluffy and buttery. What is more, the topping possibilities are endless! I decided that I won’t settle for plain waffles in the morning anymore. What about you? Are you ready to try this green goodness?

What Do You Need to Make Green Spinach Waffles?

There are only two ingredients and a few spices that differentiate these savory waffles from sweet waffles. You already know that you need eggs, milk, all-purpose flour, butter, and baking powder. You just add fresh spinach (I used baby spinach), grated Cheddar, some salt, pepper and Cayenne pepper.

You choose the ingredients for the topping. Yes, there are a variety of toppings and accompaniments that go well with spinach waffles, but don’t be overwhelmed with all these possibilities because you can try one topping one morning, and another topping the next day. Here are a few ideas you can try:

  • cream cheese, egg and smoked salmon
  • deli meats, Gouda and mayo
  • ham and cheese with a little bit of horseradish spread
  • yogurt and garlic
  • mozzarella and cherry tomatoes
  • fried eggs and bacon
  • ricotta and avocado
  • salsa
  • chicken salad

How to Make Spinach Waffles?

Start by combining spinach with milk and spices in a blender. When you get a nice liquid, transfer it to a mixing bowl. In the meantime, preheat the waffle maker.

Add eggs and melted butter and continue to whip. Now add the rest of the ingredients and combine them.

Pour half of the cup into your waffle maker and bake each serving for 1-2 minutes, depending on how strong is your waffle maker. The waffle’s surface should be brownish.

Serve warm with your favorite topping!

How to Store Spinach Waffles?

Spinach waffles will be good to eat for the next three days. Make sure you store them in the refrigerator and wrap them in aluminum foil. You can also freeze them and eat them within 3 months. When you want to eat them, let them defrost and reheat them in the waffle maker for 30 seconds.
