Denise Richards has spent decades in the spotlight, from her iconic role as a Bond girl in ‘The World Is Not Enough’ to her seasons on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’. But while fans debate the drama, a quieter story has been playing out behind the scenes, one that has to do with what is actually on her plate.

Her figure did not happen by accident, and her approach to food is far more thoughtful than most people realize. It is also far more achievable.

The Gluten-Free Turn That Changed Everything

The shift in Denise’s diet started with a wake-up call most people never get. Fans watching a reunion episode of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ noticed her thyroid looked enlarged and reached out to her directly.

Denise listened, went to the doctor, and made a major change. She shared on Instagram that eliminating gluten had noticeably changed her thyroid in a short period of time, adding that she had no idea how much diet could affect the body.

Around 90% of her diet is now gluten-free, something she told Women’s Health she definitely notices the difference from. The weight loss that followed was a bonus she did not even plan for.

Goodbye Vegetarianism, Hello Protein

After years of eating no meat, Denise quietly reversed course. She told Women’s Health that one day she started adding more protein to her meals and immediately felt full in a way that felt healthy and satisfying.

Grilled salmon, halibut, roast chicken, and good steaks are now regulars in her kitchen. Family dinners often include a big salad, steamed asparagus, or sautéed Brussels sprouts alongside whatever protein she is cooking that night.

She Grazes All Day Instead of Eating Big Meals

Denise does not follow the three-big-meals rule, and that appears to be one of her biggest secrets. She told Women’s Health that she considers herself a grazer, snacking throughout the day on fresh cut vegetables with crunchy sea salt, fresh cheese, nuts, and homemade guacamole.

Breakfast is flexible too. She shared that she sometimes eats lunch or dinner food in the morning, or goes the egg route with a buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and basil omelet, always with a coffee and half-and-half on the side.

When lunch happens, it is a big salad with grilled salmon or chicken. When it does not, her snacks carry her through.

The Pilates Habit She Has Kept for Decades

Food is only half the picture. Denise has been a devoted Pilates practitioner for well over twenty years, and it shows.

She told HuffPost that she has tried everything, weights, classes, all of it, and that Pilates is simply what her body responds to best. She incorporates Physique 57, a fusion of Pilates and ballet barre, into her regular routine alongside dance classes and daily walks.

Denise Richards is living proof that the most sustainable approach to staying slim is not the most extreme one. It is gluten awareness, real protein, a lot of vegetables, a coffee with half-and-half, and twenty years of Pilates. Somehow, that is both incredibly simple and deeply enviable.
