Recipe Variations

  • Change the Chocolate: Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate. Dark chocolate can offer a richer, more intense flavor if you’re up for it!
  • Add Nuts: For a bit of crunch, sprinkle some crushed hazelnuts or almonds between the layers. This adds a lovely texture and nutty flavor that complements both the chocolate and orange.
  • Vegan Friendly: Swap the cream for coconut cream and use vegan-friendly chocolate to cater to dietary restrictions without compromising on taste.

Ingredients

Base

  • 7.8 ounces ladyfingers cca 1 per cup
  • 2/3 cup cold milk

Chocolate Cream

  • 10.5 ounces milk chocolate
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream

Orange Cream

  • 5.5 ounces white chocolate
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered orange food coloring
  • A few drops of orange flavor optional
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

Base

  • Briefly dip the ladyfingers in cold milk and break them to fit the bottom of your cup.

Chocolate Cream

  • Place milk chocolate in a bowl, sprinkle with salt, and pour over hot heavy cream. Stir until you achieve a smooth mixture.
  • Spoon or pour the chocolate cream over the ladyfinger layer. Adjust the amount based on the size of your cup, ensuring even distribution.

Orange Cream

  • Squeeze and strain an orange to remove seeds and pulp, measuring out 1/3 cup of juice. Heat the juice until it’s hot enough to melt the chocolate.
  • Pour the hot juice over the white chocolate sprinkled with orange coloring. Stir until smooth, reheating gently if needed.
  • Chill the mixture for about 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • While chilling, whip the heavy cream to a soft, fluffy texture—be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold the chilled orange chocolate into the whipped cream until well combined.
  • Transfer the cream into a piping bag and distribute it over the chocolate layer in the cups. Optionally, garnish with a mint leaf.
