The Fourth of July is a celebration of freedom — so why not free yourself from the sugar crash that usually follows the dessert table? This no-bake, five-minute parfait checks every patriotic color box with ingredients you can feel good about.

The secret is in the layers. A crunchy base of sugar-free granola mixed with dried berries gives you that satisfying bite without the blood sugar spike.

A cloud of thick Greek yogurt — lightly sweetened with a drizzle of maple syrup and a splash of vanilla — brings the white.

And a generous crown of fresh blueberries and raspberries delivers the red and blue in the most delicious way possible.

It’s light enough to enjoy after burgers and hot dogs, pretty enough to wow at a potluck, and healthy enough that seconds aren’t out of the question. Make a batch in individual glasses the morning of and keep them chilled — they’re ready when you are.

Red, White & Blue Yogurt Parfait Recipe

Serves: 4
Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Granola layer

  • 1½ cups sugar-free granola or low-sugar cereal with dried berries
  • ¼ cup dried blueberries or mixed dried berries (if your granola doesn’t already include them)

Yogurt layer

  • 2 cups plain full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1½ tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Berry topping

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Make the yogurt cream. Stir together the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. Taste and add a touch more maple syrup if you like it sweeter.
  2. Layer the granola. Divide the granola evenly among four glasses, filling each about one-third of the way up.
  3. Add the yogurt. Spoon the sweetened yogurt over the granola, leaving room at the top for the berries.
  4. Top with berries. Pile the fresh blueberries and raspberries on top. For a festive look, alternate them so both colors show.
  5. Serve immediately for the crunchiest granola layer, or refrigerate for up to 4 hours (the granola will soften slightly, which some people prefer).

Tip: For a dairy-free version, swap in coconut yogurt. For extra protein, use a vanilla protein powder mixed into the yogurt instead of maple syrup.
