Ask most actors about the secret behind a physique that hasn’t seemed to change in decades, and the answer usually involves some carefully branded regimen with a name attached to it. Paul Rudd’s version of that answer is refreshingly unglamorous, and he’s been pretty upfront that it isn’t much of a secret at all.

There’s no exotic ingredient or trendy protocol behind it, just a level of repetition most people would find genuinely tedious.

His Everyday Meals Barely Change From Day to Day

Rudd has described a routine built on the same handful of foods showing up again and again rather than any kind of varied meal planning. “Eating eggs ‘every day,'” along with regular salmon and a protein shake made with just water, make up the bulk of what he actually eats on a normal day.

He’s been just as consistent about explaining why that repetition doesn’t bother him. “It sounds like hell. It’s really not,” he said, adding that he genuinely finds routine “comforting” rather than restrictive. That mindset, treating sameness as a feature rather than a flaw, is a big part of what makes the whole approach sustainable for him long-term.

He’s Genuinely Fine With Eating the Same Meals on Repeat

Talking about the more restrictive version of his diet used for Marvel roles, Rudd was blunt about just how repetitive it got. “I’m okay with having really boring food every time, over and over again,” he said, describing how similar his meals stayed throughout the process.

He also admitted the adjustment period wasn’t instant, saying it took time before the routine actually started to feel normal rather than miserable. Once he settled into it, though, he described genuinely feeling better, which lines up with how consistently he’s talked about routine being the actual engine behind his results rather than any single food or trick.

One Popular Party Food Actually Weirds Him Out

Despite being famously easygoing about repetitive, plain meals, Rudd has admitted there’s at least one common food he actively avoids. Appearing on Hot Ones, he opted for cauliflower wings instead of the traditional chicken version, later explaining in a separate interview, “Sometimes I get a little weirded out with chicken wings.”

That small aversion stands out precisely because so much of his food philosophy otherwise reads as low-maintenance and unbothered. It’s a reminder that “boring but disciplined” doesn’t mean he eats absolutely everything without preference, just that his actual pickiness shows up in oddly specific places.

His One Real Indulgence Isn’t Food, It’s Candy

For someone so matter-of-fact about bland, repetitive meals, Rudd has a genuinely enthusiastic exception carved out specifically for candy. He’s described his own preferences as “the candy taste of a 7-year-old child,” favoring simple, nostalgic picks like Mike and Ikes, Hot Tamales, and white Tic Tacs.

That enthusiasm goes well beyond casual snacking. Rudd co-owns Samuel’s Sweet Shop, a small candy store in Rhinebeck, New York, which he and a co-owner bought in 2014 to keep it from closing. It’s a strikingly specific indulgence sitting right alongside an otherwise deliberately unexciting diet, and maybe the clearest sign that “boring” was never really about deprivation for him.
