Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian Barker get plenty of attention for their leather jackets and matching tattoos, but their actual dinner table tells a very different story than most fans assume. Between the two of them, and the kids who move between their two households, the reality is far less rigid than the word “vegan” usually implies.

A Diet That Began With a Plane Crash

Barker’s plant-based life traces back to a single terrifying event. In 2008, he survived a small plane crash that killed four other people on board, and he spent eleven weeks recovering in the hospital afterward.

Going fully vegan followed almost immediately once he was discharged. He’s said the shift gave him something he wasn’t expecting: steady, reliable energy that never seems to run out, even after a full day of touring or working out.

Long Before That, He’d Already Cut Out Meat

Barker didn’t arrive at veganism cold. He gave up meat as a teenager, decades before the plane crash pushed him the rest of the way, which makes his current diet less of a health pivot and more of a lifelong thread.

He’s tied the choice directly to the music that shaped him. A plant-based diet, he’s said, has always been rooted in punk rock and hardcore culture, treating it less like a wellness trend and more like part of the scene’s identity.

Comfort Food, Just Made Plant-Based

For a guy who talks about discipline on stage, Barker’s actual fridge leans surprisingly indulgent. His go-to at-home meal is an English muffin stacked with a Just Egg patty and an Impossible sausage, closer to a fast-food order than a wellness plate.

He’s also been filmed making vegan cheese quesadillas with Violife products, narrating the process between drumstick taps on the counter. He and Kourtney have separately built an entire brand partnership around Daring’s vegan chicken, eating it everywhere from limos to hotel rooms.

Kourtney’s Flexible Version of Vegan

Kourtney describes her own eating as roughly ninety-five percent vegan, a number she’s been upfront isn’t a perfect one hundred. She’s admitted to still keeping the occasional butter or honey in her routine, treating the label loosely rather than as a strict rulebook.

That flexibility took years to build. She’d already cut dairy and gluten from her diet, and her kids’ diets, after muscle testing revealed sensitivities, and she’s said she noticed a real shift in her children’s behavior once those foods were gone.

A Vegan Table for the Whole Family

When it came time to celebrate Barker’s birthday, Kourtney didn’t just plan a party, she rebuilt an entire holiday menu from scratch. She put together a vegan Thanksgiving spread, complete with vegan mac and cheese and a seitan turkey standing in for the real thing.

The dinner was catered by a private chef and set with a full autumn tablescape, apples and pumpkins included. Barker later called it the most amazing dinner he’d had, tagging the family members who joined him at the table.

Their Daughter’s Own Plate

Not everyone under their roof eats exactly the same way, and that’s by design rather than accident. Barker’s daughter Alabama follows a vegetarian diet of her own, a choice that sits a step apart from her father’s fully vegan one.

The wider picture with the kids is less defined. They went dairy- and gluten-free alongside Kourtney years ago, but whether meat has fully left their plates isn’t something the family has spelled out in detail.

Vegan Past the Kitchen

For Barker, the commitment doesn’t stop at food. He’s been explicit that his leather jackets and boots are entirely animal-free, saying he’s “very, very adamant” about it whenever fans assume otherwise.

That same commitment shows up in his business choices. He helped launch Crossroads Kitchen, an upscale vegan restaurant, alongside chef Tal Ronnen, and has partnered with Monty’s Good Burger on merchandise that funds animal shelters overseas.
