Ask Tamera Mowry what she actually craves after a long day, and the answer has nothing to do with anything trendy or complicated. When asked directly about her favorite comfort foods, she named lasagna, eggplant parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs, along with fried chicken, biscuits and a really good sandwich rounding out the list.

That love for home cooked comfort turned into something even more meaningful during lockdown. Mowry has shared that her family genuinely found peace in the kitchen during that stretch at home, turning cooking together into a routine that helped everyone get through an otherwise stressful time.

Cooking Has Become A Real Family Ritual

That kitchen time did not stop once life went back to normal either. Mowry and her husband Adam even started their own Instagram Live cooking show together called The Housley Life, Wine and Dine, turning date night into something they could share with fans too.

The kids get pulled into the routine as well, each finding their own role in the kitchen. Cooking together has simply become part of how the family spends time, whether that means help during steak night or putting together sandwiches for breakfast.

With comfort food topping her own list, a warm homemade lasagna feels like the perfect dish to bring that same cozy energy into any kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil, chopped, for serving

Steps

  1. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, then add the marinara sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with the egg until smooth.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish, then layer noodles, ricotta mixture, more meat sauce and a scatter of mozzarella. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbling.
  6. Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing, then top with fresh basil and serve warm.
