Sofia Vergara has spent decades in the spotlight, and somehow the years never seem to catch up with her the way they do for the rest of us. People assume it must be luck, good genes, or an army of dermatologists working overtime behind the scenes.

Vergara has actually opened up about her own routine more than once, and one small, unglamorous food keeps showing up every single time she talks about it.

It is cheap, it fits in the palm of your hand, and it turns out there might be real science behind why she reaches for it so often.

Her Go-To Beauty Food Is Refreshingly Simple

When Vergara sat down with Health to talk about her skin and beauty routine, she kept her answer surprisingly low key. “I eat blueberries, and I drink green tea,” she told the outlet, along with a daily habit of loading up on vegetables and water.

She has repeated some version of that same answer in nearly every interview about her diet since, always circling back to blueberries as one of her staples.

Her go to breakfast, a homemade muesli of Greek yogurt, oats, chia seeds, nuts, and blueberries, backs that up.

There Might Actually Be Something To It

Blueberries are loaded with anthocyanins, the antioxidant compounds responsible for their deep blue color, and research has connected them to slowing down the very process that causes visible aging in the skin.

These compounds help fight the breakdown of collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm and elastic, while also calming inflammation and protecting cells from the kind of daily damage that adds up over time.

One study even found that a compound found in blueberries visibly improved skin in just 28 days when applied directly to the face.

It Is Not Her Only Habit, But It Might Be the Easiest

Vergara is quick to admit she is no health saint. She has been open about her love of cake, her weekend desserts, and a workout philosophy she has jokingly summed up as no pain, no cake.

But blueberries seem to be the one small, consistent habit tucked into an otherwise pretty normal relationship with food. It costs a few dollars a carton, takes zero effort to prepare, and might be doing more for her glow than any product sitting in her bathroom cabinet.
