She has sung Glinda in ‘Wicked’, shattered records with ‘Eternal Sunshine’, and conquered every wing on ‘Hot Ones’ without flinching. But between tour rehearsals and red carpets, there is a quieter side to Ariana Grande that fans genuinely love: the one who goes home and actually cooks dinner. The real question is whether she knows what she is doing in that kitchen.

The Vegan Commitment

Grande has been going plant-based since 2013, when she announced it on social media and described it as “a joyous day.” She links the lifestyle directly to longevity, happiness, and her love of animals, and she has not budged since.

The commitment runs so deep that even her Italian nonna cannot change it, as she told Hot Ones that her grandmother still offers her meatballs every single time, and she still politely says no.

What a Day on Her Plate Looks Like

Her trainer Harley Pasternak has described her everyday eating as macrobiotic Japanese, built around adzuki beans, daikon, lotus, and smoothies made with a coconut water base.

Breakfast is usually a blended smoothie or eggs with vegetables, while lunches rotate around salads packed with tofu, cashews, and teriyaki, with edamame appearing throughout the day.

And then there are strawberries, which she has claimed to eat a minimum of five every single day for as long as she can remember.

Her Signature Dish

The answer to whether she can cook is yes, and the pasta proves it. On a SmartLess podcast episode, she revealed her go-to home-cooked meal. “I’m vegan, so I love to roast mushrooms of different variants and make a vegan pesto. I’m Italian, so we have to have that pasta,” she said.

Her Italian roots make themselves known in other ways too. She told Amy Poehler’s podcast that her all-time favorite pasta is a simple marinara, specifically the kind her late nonna used to make.

Even her former private chef backed it up, revealing that a vegan chicken scarpariello she once cooked for Grande and her family was such a hit it earned her an invite to Grande’s 18th birthday party.

Ariana Grande can absolutely cook. She just does it with roasted mushrooms instead of meatballs, and at this point, her nonna probably already knows the answer.
