Texas Roadhouse Grilled Shrimp Appetizer [Recipe]
Texas Roadhouse has given us so many mouth-watering options on their menu that no matter what you order, you will leave the restaurant satisfied. From delicious steaks to fall-of-the-bone ribs, I’ve tried and loved it all. However, among the appetizers, there is one I always come back to: grilled shrimp on skewers served with crispy toasted bread. So, I decided to make my version of Texas Roadhouse shrimps for every time I crave them. Here it is!
How to Make These Shrimp?
What I love the most about Texas Roadhouse shrimp is garlic-lemon butter they are served with. It gives extra dimension of sweet, rich and tangy favor to the dish. I didn’t serve it as a side for the shrimp. Instead, I marinated the shrimp in it so that the grilled garlic could impart its sweet and smoky tones.
To make this marinade, you will need softened butter, lemon zest, garlic, salt and pepper. Of course, you will need shrimp, two slices of bread and some fresh parsley to garnish the dish.
First, you will put the shrimp on the wooden skewers, then you spread the marinade all over them. Now grill the shrimp over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes on each side.
To make warm and crispy bread, spread butter on the side you want to toast, and then place that side on the grill pan until it gets nicely toasted layer.
And that’s it! Your meal is ready to be served!
Serving Ideas
You will need a big oval plate that can fit all the ingredients we used to make TR shrimp appetizer. Serve the shrimp skewers and toasted bread on the plate while they are still warm, then sprinkle some freshly chopped parsley over the shrimp for a pop of color.
To add some tang, place one lemon wedge next to the skewers so that your guests can add an extra burst of tangy flavor right before eating.
And lastly, if you have lemon-garlic butter leftovers, melt them and serve in a small dipping bowl. Some other sauces you can serve with TR shrimp skewers are sweet chili sauce, garlic aioli, tartar sauce or chimichurri sauce.
Providing your guests with forks would likely be a good idea, as this would allow them to easily remove the shrimp from the skewers.
Variations
There are many variations Texas Roadhouse shrimp appetizer that you can try at home. For example, you can experiment with different seasonings. Simply add Cajun seasoning to garlic-lemon butter and enjoy spicy seafood.
You can also use TR shrimps as an addition to other dishes such as tacos, sandwiches, tostadas, omelette, or salads.
Adding vegetables on the skewers will get you a colorful well-rounded appetizer. If you want a protein-packed meal, include pieces of chicken breast and get a surf-and-turf dish.
Storing Tips
Now, if you end up with some leftovers, follow my storing tips since not all parts of the dish are stored in the same way. Once everything has cooled to room temperature, place the shrimp in airtight container and refrigerate them for a maximum of two days.
Toasted bread will do just fine at room temperature, but make sure to place it in a resealable plastic bag or an airtight container. Since it starts to harden by the next day, eat it within these two days.
Garlic-lemon butter should also be placed in an airtight container and can last for up to two weeks in the refrigerator.
