Recreate the iconic Sonic signature sauce at home with a blend of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, spices, and a hint of sweetness, tanginess, and smokiness.
Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix well until they homogenize in a single reddish-brownish shade.
Add the white vinegar and Worcestershire sauce to the mixture and mix again until they get absorbed into the mixture.
Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly but slowly and gently; we don't want to make the mixture too thin!
Taste the sauce and adjust the flavor with salt and black pepper to your preference. You can add more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tanginess if you want.
Once you get the taste that you want, cover the bowl containing the sauce and pop it in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Never skip this step, as it is crucial for the flavors to meld together.
Notes
Storing TipsAlthough Sonic's signature sauce isn't highly perishable, you still need to be mindful and store it carefully. Don’t take any chances compromising the sauce and risking your health. You can either keep it in the bowl where you made it, or do as I do and transfer it into a jar. Wherever you decide to keep it, maintain it closed, as tightly as possible, and keep it in the fridge at all times. Don't take the entire thing out of the fridge, but scoop as much as you need and return the rest. Stored and used this way, your homemade Sonic signature sauce will be safe and sound for up to a week.
